1st & 2nd Generation (1983–1986 & 1987-1991)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1983-1986 & 1987-1991.
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
...going to the junk yard this weekend to look for front seats for my kid's 1988 Camry base model. What seats should fit? I know 1987-91 Camry, but what about newer Gens or other models?
No other seats bolt directly in to the car that I'm aware of. There are many seats that will fit with some modification... I'll be trying to fit some 02/03 WRX seats in mine when I get the time.

yeah, now that's helpful isn't it! lol! tell him to get seats from the same car! lol! if they don't fir i'd be bloody surprised! HA! seriously though, after looking around down here for seats i know how much of a bitch it is to find some that will fit. none do. (we dinna get any (and if we did i've never seen em) ES250's here in aus) best bet is to go aftermarket or wait for one of the "seniors" to try with thier current projects.

Actually, I AM looking for junkyeard quality, not aftermarket. This is a $600 beater. The driver's seat back is broken, the fabric is shredded, and the bones are poking through the foam. Anything will be better. The local pick 'n pull has 3 or 4 Gen 2s and even a couple ES250s. I just want something structurally sound to sit under those rad Hello Kitty seat covers. Going to go look this morning.
Hey Kevin, where is that junkyard at? In Cinci? I've heard that there's a really good Toyota junkyard somewhere in northern KY, but can't seem to find out where it's at. Looking for a Gen 2 V6 to get some parts from.
yeah yeah fair cop that, the hello kitty seat covers do need a serious seat to under them! lol! you grab a seat out of the same model and you'll be right i reckon, just look for the usual suspects as you've already seen with the current seats. broken back, ribbing poking through, tearing ect. try lookin at the "upper class" models (whatever's equiv to aussies Ultima) and definately the 250 seats, they have a better covering that wears alot better than the standard cloth covering. if anyone does find a seat that will fit in the Gen 2 with minor mods, or easy mods they should post somewhere. it is a common problem afterall.

Yeah, I am busted. I am a jeep guy. Have 5 or 6 from a '57 Willys on up.
My kids on the other hand are partial to Toys when it comes to daily drivers. They have Jeeps too, but Son and wife have 2 Paseos and Daughter has the Camry. My Brother in law has a couple too, and is always asking me to tell him how to fix something (I can rarely help him, BTW). I pop in over here occasionally when there is a problem and I need to search.
I SCORED THE SEATS. Found a pair in pretty decent condition. $47 out the door. Also found a leather one for my Grand Wagoneer for $27.
They have an "inventory" tab on the wesite where you can check what models/years they currently have on site. They had 6-8 Gen2 Camrys yesterday, some with V6s, and a ton of Gen 3s.
Thanks all, for your help and for not busting The Lurker's chops too bad.
