2nd Generation Gas Tank Quandry

My camry has been sitting stationary for about 4 years now with a little less than 1/4 of a tank of gas... I've looked for a drain plug and can't find one.
I don't intend to remove the tank and clean it. But I do want to remove the old gas.

Any ideas of the best way to go about doing this?

Some Camry fuel tanks dont have a drain plug....believe it or not. You have to pump out as much gas as you can before you remove it. The schematic I have doesnt show a drain plug and the Chiltons I have says it doesnt have one.

You can always use the vehicle's fuel pump to pump it out. or you can take out the sending unit and pump it out from there.

Yes you can, but you need to take precautions before you run the engine....Like unhooking the gas line at the fuel filter and pumping new gas thru the pump into a container before running it into the engine. You need a new fuel filter and then change it after youve run the engine a couple hundred miles. Im sure crap in the tank will clog it up quickly. You may need to put something like Seafoam in the gas to help stabilize it. If you dont know about Seafoam, do a Google search and learn about it. You might need a new fuel pump. You can pump the tank out from where you remove the fuel pump. Your fuel pump diaphrams are probably ruined. Im sure you will get plenty more comments on this thread.

The fuel pump had been sitting in the old fuel for the past four years, so whether you run it or not, it is already in the old fuel. Furthermore, you will be putting a new fuel filter on regardless of whether you have the old fuel through it or not. When I said pump it out with vehicle fuel pump, I don't mean running the engine. Simply disconnecting the fuel line from the fuel filter when you change the fuel filter, hook up the feed line to a container. Then connect the 'Fp' terminal in the diagnostic connector to a power source and the fuel pump will run without the key on.
