My first and last body repair in 2004 90 Camry

Parts replaced: grill, RF fender, R headlight assy, nosepiece, radiator support, hood. corner light, hood support rod.
The radiator was repaired with epoxy; the a/c was not damaged[!!!]
One of the fans had shroud straightened up.



We were lucky to get all parts except the front bumper [we left it as it was] from two local wrecking yards.
the repair was done in December 2004.
the part of core support in front of the cruise control was the only one that was fixed with the hammer [note fresh paint]

Nicely done! It is my hope that my poor rusty 90 V6 will look that good by next summer. It'll be getting new rear quarter panels (thanks again, Bill, for finding those online for me), a new trunk, new rear inner bumper, and some repair work to the floor pans. I hope the work I do ends-up looking as professional as your work...

When this car went to obtain the salvage title, the brake and lamp inspector asked: "How come they totalled the car because of the bumper??"

Are you serious?! The repair was so clean they couldn't tell what was done? Holy crap...you wanna come for a visit to Canada and weld on some q-panels for me?! ... no, didn't think so

The reason I picked this project is because no welding was needed to finish it as I do not know how to weld .
The white wagon owner [seen on the picture behind the wheel] let me use his garage while I did head swap on my 79 Supra, so after his car was hit by the backing-up bus in L.A, he asked me about tentative estimate how much it will cost to fix it.
After realizing that the frame components and inner fender had no damage, and the only one welded part can be straightened with hammer and home made anvil, I decided give this thing a shot.
I was able to bring the a/c condenser back to it's place without damaging the a/c tubes.
The hardest part to find was the passenger side fender, as they got damaged most often.[You can see the blue pinstripping on it which we un-glued later using alcohol.

Those, "sombody backed up into me in the city" accidents are the worst. The day I lowered my first Camry, I parked on the street in SF... somebody did the 'bump' method of parallel parking and pushed in the headlight, nose panel and grill. Luckily, I only had to replace the headlight, the rest bent back into place well enough.

I totally dread any accidents in my Alltrac - I fear it will be almost certainly be totalled, even though it is such a rare car that it should be repaired. I still pay for collision on it so that at least I get some cash if there is an accident...
