Need info on changing transaxle fluid on 1991 5spd Camry

I just replaced the passenger side axle shaft on my 1991 5spd 4cyl 2WD Camry. When I removed the axle alot of the transaxle fluid came pouring out. What I'm trying to find out is: Where are the fill and drain plugs for the transaxle and what type of fluid is needed for it?

Fill plug is on the front of the transmission, below the starter. Factory fluid is Dexron II/III ATF. (yes, ATF for the manual transmission) Just fill 'til it starts coming out the fill hole.

What came out of the transaxle was yellow oil,not tranny fluid. Mine is a 5spd transmission.

Depends on year of car and engine. Toyota used both gear oil and auto trans fluid in manual trans.

4 cylinder lists Dexron, V6 engine lists gear oil.

If you want, use 75W90W or 80W90W gear oil.

Hondas from those years used motor oil in some of their manual transmissions... maybe the previous owner made a mistake? Go with Dexrom III ATF or 75w90 gear oil.

2nd Generation This wierd

I was replacing a manual in a 91.

Come to find out it had (yes) Dextron III in it.... WOW!

Last time I did a (american made) manual was 90W???

Oh well I figured maybe the previous owner made a mistake but checked the vin Number on the tranny and it came out of a 87 Celica

Looked up the 87 celica and sure enough it specified Dextron . Filled till overflowed ....That was 100 miles ago. running Good....

I guess it comes down to what year tranny it really is..

Good Luck.....
