Very poor V-6 gas mileage

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, but I've been reading around for a while.

Anyway, I bought a 1990 V-6 automatic with 144,600 miles on it. I seem to get 13 miles per gallon which isnt good at all (I hear these should get low or mid 20s??). The car runs smooth/good. I recently replaced the Coolant temp sensor, fuel filter, seafoamed it, and the oxygen sensor, so far it seems to get around the same MPG (didnt really check yet). Still have to do the cap/rotor/wires/plugs, but i dont think it could cause that bad gas mileage.

I still need to replace the inner tie rod ends as they have a lot of slop, so the alignment isnt very good, but still i doubt the gas mileage would suffer that much??

On a side note, when i replaced the O2 sensor, the old one wasnt plugged in. I thought it was weird because if the O2 isnt plugged in, wouldn't the check engine light turn on?

Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hey, welcome officially to the forum. You'll find that just about any topic imaginable has been covered, so try a search. I remembered posting on this topic recently, and my search yielded these two threads:

91 camry v6 horrible fuel comsumption

89 Camry V6 Auto bad fuel economy

I actually just replaced the front pads on my V6 tonight, the outboard pad on the passenger side had worn down roughly three times faster than any of the others (my fuel mileage had become absolute crap recently, and so I knew something was wrong). Upon inspection, the caliper piston wasn't seized but the bottom slider pin was seized in the bore--causing wear on only the outer pad.

Good luck, and remember to use the handy "search this forum" function... it'll save much heartache, and prevent geezers like me from using terms like "noob."
