I get 25-28 in my LE Alltrac Auto... The motor is in questionable shape... it burns about 1 quart of oil ever 1.5k miles and has what I think/hope is a loud valve tick at idle. I'm replacing the motor soon-ish, so I'm not worried about it.
I've heard of the Alltrac 5-speeds getting closer to 30mpg or even over on the highway. The gearing is lower in both the auto and manual Alltracs compared to any of the FWD models (other than V6 5-speed), so that coupled with the extra weight (a couple hundred pounds) and driveline loss gives you the lower mileage.
Make sure all the drivetrain parts are in good shape... they are hard to find and expensive compared to the FWD parts.

PS. I used to get 29-36mpg in my original 4-cyl 5-speed, so keep that in mind. I generally get better mileage than the rating in the cars I drive.
