Brake job, where to grease ?

So I got new front rotors and pads for my 91 camry LE (3SFE). In my Haynes manual it does not mention that I have to apply grease anywhere when changing the rotors and pads. Is this true ?

Also, does using a flat head screwdriver work to compress the piston back in the caliper bore?

Thanks

Only use high temp brake grease, typically silicone.

Apply the grease at the pad locations that contact the caliper, typically the ends.

If the pads has shims apply some grease between the pad and shim.

The grease allows for easy movement and can dampen squeaking noises.

Use whatever you have to push the piston back. If you have ABS open the bleed valve on the caliper first and allow the dirty fluid to bleed out rather the be pushed back into the brake system.

I push the piston back into the bore with a large C-clamp. It works very easily with no straining or problems. You can even put a wood block against the piston if you want too.

Yes, C-Clamp and a small plank of wood to cover the piston surface.
