My wife has this problem with her car, its do to bad connection at the couplers. Where the wires actually connect to the coupler is the problem in her car. Mess around with your head light on without shocking yourself and see if it brightens with a little play.

when you say coupler you mean the connector between the wire from the bulb to the wire to the car correct?

The part I'm talking about is when you remove headlight, there is usually a connector between the headlight and the wire leading to the battery that you have to unclamp. The wires can be loose with wear and tear that feed into the coupler and some play might be needed.
