1988 Toyoto Camry Dlx Floods after shutting off

I'm having an issue with a 1988 Toyota Camry Dlx 4cyl which floods after letting the vehicle sit. I am able to start the vehicle within 2 minutes of shutting off but after 2 minutes, I am unable to start the vehicle.

If I let the vehicle sit for 8+ hours, I am able to start the vehicle.

The only theory I have as of to why I can start it after an extended period of time is due to the fuel evaporating.

However, the main question would be; what could possibly be the contributing factors as of to why it is flooding after I shut it off?

1 or more leaky injectors. They are not shutting off and continue to drip fuel into the cylinder(s) after the engine is shut off. Try a bottle of injector cleaner and hope it is some crud on the tip of one of the injectors.

Another thing to check would be your engine coolant temperature sensor. It may be out of range and is constantly telling the computer the engine is cold. This would result in an excessively rich fuel mixture, making for a difficult warm engine start. When the engine is good and cold, this rich fuel mixture is what is needed so the engine starts right up. You will need a digital volt/ohmeter and the specs from any manual to check this.

Flooding would be evident by soot coated spark plug firing end.
I would start with checking for diagnostic codes.
