Hey alls...
I'm new to the forums here...
I just picked up an 88 Camry for a 100 dollar bill.... its in decent shape with 200k on the clock... a "mechanic" told the previous owner that the timing belt had slipped and destroyed the motor... when i towed it home to check it over after i bought it... i found that the fuel pump had failed... runs great after a $30 ebay fuel pump
i replaced a few other things... basic tune up... flushed radiator... replaced thermostat... the car had sat for 2 years so a few things needed to be done to get it running correctly....
anyways... i started driving it and i notice that if i get into it in 2nd... the clutch slips... now it progressively got better and the problem nearly went away... but it seems to be coming back.... i can drive it easy and drive it at highway speed with no problem (60+mph) but if i step into it... it'll free-rev...
now... my question... i noticed the coolant manifold on the right side of the head is seaping down over the bell housing... could this leak cause the clutch to slip? ive got the gasket but i didnt get around to replacing it yet....
anyways... let me know... im planning on selling the car in the next few months... but if the clutch is shot... im gonna replace it before sticking the car with someone else... i dont want to screw anyone over...
thanks
