I bought a tach cluster with the RPM gauge in it for my 90 DX, and it came to my door and an hour later it was in pieces in my kitchen. His tach had 327XXX miles on it, and thats way too much for me, so i switched over my Speedometer section and installed it in his cluster.
Here's a few pics, going to take a few tonite as well.
I have to figure out what causes my tach to jump up and downd at acceleration [this is not engine misfire or a/t problem, as Tune-up tach indicates correct RPM]
It jumps only ocassionally if the wire to it is hooked up directly to the coil connector
Gonna check it this weekend

Never heard of that, but i have never had a tach in my car before.
Very Nice From what you saw during assembly does it seem simple to change over odometer numbers to the new cluster? I would swap my whole speedo too but it waivers a bit.
Anyone know what causes the needle waiver?
What's a good price to pay for a tach cluster with low/moderate mileage?

Nice swap JM!
I did the same swap in my Camry. I also just swapped in a tach cluster into my truck. My truck has about 268k miles on it, and the tach cluster I got off ebay was within 90 miles of my original unit! That was pure luck. On the trucks, you have to swap out the oil sending unit or it will fry the oil pressure gauge.

Mines does that too. Although only when I'm not on the gas pedal. It hovers from 1k to 2k mark.

Charlie charged me 40 shipped from CA to LI. The speedomoter is contolled by a circular green fitting behind the cluster. The speedometer has 4 screwz and swapped almost perfectly besides having to remove two tabs that my tach used and charlies didnt.
So its the fitting that causes the Speed needle waiver? Is this green fitting attached to the car or cluster? I also noticed your door chime sounds different than mine. Weird for the same year car. Sounds like my 90 Prizm.

My door chime sucks, i wish i knew where the sound was coming from cause id rip it out.
I have no idea about the wavering, could be the motor in the speedometer. Only way to check that is to get another tach and see if its the speedometer.
