1st & 2nd Generation (1983–1986 & 1987-1991)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1983-1986 & 1987-1991.
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was randomly browsing and I came across this site, if anyone is on the lookout for used Cam-sters. I wish there was something like this here in my city:

Honda my A$$, you just can't kill a Yota...
You're jealous of the '91 V6 for $1500, aren't you?
It hurts my soul...as far as I can tell, there are only two 2nd gen Camrys in town here that're in comparable condition. Salt kills.

ARGH! i'd gladly do the exchange and come over to get that lil beauty! looks good!
About 1/20 gen2 Camrys around here is in that condition... The rest have some sort of noticable unrepaired damage... but very rarely is there one with rust.

Well, rust is definitely prominent on gen2s in the salt belt...that said, I've noticed that most of the road-worthy Camrys in Canada (and Minnesota, where I visit occasionally) have great interiors and no scrapes/scratches. My theory is that these stragglers spent much of their lives in the hands of seniors--who babied them. The gen2s that were bought new by families or younger owners got beaten all to hell, and are mostly long gone now. Further south where rust is a moot point, those beaters are still driving around. Long live elderly owners!

I'm still waiting for Bill (aka Homegrown) to post some pics of the gen2 at the Yota factory in KY. IIRC he said it had only 1k or 2k on the clock...it's been a showroom car since day one. *sigh*

The Toyota Museum down in Long Beach has a couple gen2's in it... and a Toyota 2000GT. And the 3s-gte AWD 7th gen Celica... and a number of other really cool cars. I believe is open by invite only, too...

WHOO-WEE! I was just browsing the past galleries for TORC Toyotafest meets, and I found a lil pic of an orange '77-ish Celica. There's a guy here in town who has one just like it, same condition. All of those cars give me a renewed sense of appreciation for the older Toyotas.
Sadly, I seem to have the worst taste possible...there are NO gen2 Camrys OR gen5 Celicas in any of their photo albums. *sniffle*

There's a cool gen1 turbo diesel Camry that has showed up a few times... I'll have my Alltrac Camry in it next year, probably... It should turn a few heads.
