I had my 1998 Camry LE stolen yesterday. They used a slim jim to get in. The police found the car. No damage. The police said I should replace the lock cylinder since it looked pretty old and probably was started with another Toyota key. Can someone tell me how to remove and install a new one? Thanks.

1, are you wanting to replace all the locks? or jus the the ignition? if it's everything then the door locks are a cinch! just CAREFULLY remove the skin/trim on the doors, look inside and you'll see that the locks are held in with a slide plate. all fairly basic once you see it. i'd recommend replacing with aftermarket locks. ignition is a little more difficult, as i've never needed to do mine. someone here will help with that though. keep us posted!

would be cool if you can install a newer ignition from a newer toyota.. i was thinking about doing this after my car got stolen too

Wrong section BTW, a 98 would make you a Gen 3 or 4, we stop in this section at 1991.
