Gen 3 tranny into a Gen 2 ???

Does a Gen 3 camry transmission fits a Gen 2 Camry? My tranny is dead and I found a good offer for a 1994 camry transmission, thanks for your support.

as long as the donor has the same series engine as yours I4 to I4 is ok but if the gen3 is v6 and u have i4 then it'll also work but you'll need new axles since you didn't say what engine you have i'll assume you have I4 3sfe engine.. any tranny from celica/camry with I4 from 87-02 should work

what is the difference between the trannies? manual that is. and for the I4. seems to me that this could be a good conversion if the transmission is better?

it's basicly the same tranny but different revisions of it.. the 96+ camry have dual syncros and better forks... i'd recommend that one.. i think the 94+ celica some has LSD ... and of course the celica ones have shorter gears than the camry ones...

Yes my camry is an I4 and the engine from the 94 camry is an I4 to, so there will be no difference in the transmission? i don't have to buy any other parts to install it?

yeah well may be.. depends on what tranny you have the a140E or the a140L .. if you'r E then you're safe.. but L i'm not so sure.. i think you need the ecu too since you'r going from mechanicly controlled to electronic controlled.. but auto to auto ?? 5spd to 5spd ?? more info

I have this info

My camry has a a140E tranny and the one that i'm looking to buy is an a140L, so there will be no problem to swap this 2 trannys right?

I don't think any gen3 came with the L... only gen2 had mixed L and E... but you're better off getting another E..
