Question Alright, I'm completely stumped

I just finished replacing the oil pump house seal on a 1990 camry 3sfe and everything was running smoothly. While reconnecting the alternator, the nut on the top was not bolted on tightly enough and ultimately the battery died after a short test drive.

The real problem lies in the fact that the car was jumped improperly (positive to negative). Upon jumping it correctly and refastening the nut the car was up and running again. Here’s the problem, now the power windows, heater, radio, speedometer, tachometer, e brake light, and the headlight warning light are no longer working. The headlights, wipers, horn, dashboard light, turn signals and such are working though. The fusible links by the positive terminal on the batter had the 80A fuse jury rigged with a piece of metal which is obviously bad news.

At this point we cannot find any fuses, relays or breakers that a blown. Did this destroy all the parts or am I missing some in line fuse or something that could be causing this. This is the first time in ages the car is oil leak free and is finally running smoothly and I'm desperate to get it a 100 percent functional. Thanks:

If you really can't find any blown fuses, and given the fact, from what you said above that there was really no main fuse protecting most of the circuits, I would suspect that the items you mentioned may be destroyed. The easiest way I can think of to check any of them would be to apply 12 volts directly to the heater blower fan to see if that runs. If it does, then look again for a fuse(s). If it doesn't run, you have probably answered your question about those items being destroyed.

Good luck.

Doctor J,
Thank you very much for the simple but necessary advice. In my exhaustion i must have overlooked that fuse, and sure enough problems solved. The aftermarket radio also had a blown fuse too. Thank you very much for all your wisdom, it seems like every post i read you've responded to and I know everyone appreciates all your advice. Thanks again.

No prob; one time I spend few days diagnosing no start condition for 96 Ford contour. The problem was due to the worn out spark plugs that were never changed
