2nd Generation Old girl hates the cold?!?!?

Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me identify what's wrong with the old girl. It's been about 40-50 degrees F outside these past 2 days and my 91 V6 refuses to crank up. I don't know what's wrong. All the lights light up and work so I don't think it's the battery. Any help or trouble shooting would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Eric

"Refuses to crank up". Does that mean it cranks but won't catch? Or does it just crank slowly and weakly?

If it cranks but won't fire, do a search on this forum for "cold start injection switch" or "cold start timing switch". It's been discussed many times. The 2VZFE is similar but not identical to the 3SFE set-up, so having a Haynes manual or shop manual will help you.

Well when I try to crank it it just clicks and that's it, all the lights on the dash light up door chimes, headlights light up and all but she won't turn over. If I go back like 30 min later and crank her up it'll take 4-5 cranks but she'll eventually fire up after sputtering a couple times.

She has the same problem in warm weather it's just she'll crank up after 5-6 tries.

Thanks Eric

It's either your starter contacts or a weak battery. How old is the battery itself?

"Well when I try to crank it it just clicks"

1 click or multiple rapid clicks?

Mike

its probably the stater contacts. if u knock on the starter a couple of times see if it starts up. I had the same prob it would take a couple of cranks and sometimes not turn on at all. i took apart the starter and grinded down the starter contacts they wear out over time.

I'd like to thank everyone who helped me out with this issue I just replaced the cold start valve today, got a great deal on ebay, the car seems to start better now. But now a new problem has arisen I hear what sounds like a vacuum leak but coming from the cold start valve. I checked and no gas is leaking out while the engines off or on so I'm not sure if its just a better fuel flow coming from the new cold start valve that's emitting the sound or not your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank Eric
