2nd Generation gears slipping...?

alright, i have a wonderful 1991 camry V6 2.5L with about 152K on it. It has no issues whatsoever except for one.

i am one who likes to floor it all the time and let the car shift at around 6K (500rpm before the redline). well the car will shift just fine for maybe 4 times going from gear one to gear two (at 6k) and after that it will act like it is "trying" to shift but it just wont catch the gear. it will start to pull the gear out then it just doesnt go to the next one and the rpms will continue into the red unless i back off the gas (almost all the way) then it will shift.

Variables:
-this happens only between first and second gear, no others
-it will happen with the ECT on or off and O/D on or off (wont matter)

any ideas on a fix? some have told me a sensor problem and some have told me i should get a 5 speed for it...? dont know why that will make a difference. please any help will be helpful

Sounds like slipping transmission [low fluid pressure or low fluid level]
flooring the gas on 18 y.o. car at the first gear can the bust Forward clutch very quickly.

AAMCO is not a good place to go [from my experience]
most tranny shops at least at my area are a) do not know where to hook up the gage
b) scared to touch a540e tranny
in order to diagnose your car:
Instead of D select 1st [low] and began to move; at 15 mph move selector to 2nd. If the car shifts right away, the shift valve in the valve body may be sticking or solenoid can be restricted
if not:
-drop the tranny pan to inspect the filter
-if filter is clean and there are no deposits in the pan,
you may add trans-x additive with new fluid , so it can swell the internal rubber seals and help contain the pressure.
I do not recommend Stall test at this point as it can possible ruin the tranny

If there are lot of brass dust and fiber like debree in the pan, the tranny is damaged and overhaul /or exchange can be necessary.

i had the tranny fluid changed last summer (so almost a year ago) and they did it with a machine that will pump in new fluid while it sucks out old fluid and it just keeps going to make sure all the old is out. i dont know if there were any pieces of tranny in the fluid but do you think i could just take it to midas and have them change the fluid again and tell them to add trans-x?

just fyi this problem was happening before the tranny fluid was replaced too and replacing the fluid didnt change anything it still does the same "slipping"

Yeah I don't really tromp the pedal on my Camry from a standing start. Mabey from a roll or I'll ease into the pedal from a start then hit it a second later. For the most part though I drive my car like an old lady. mabey you should too. Hope the tranny is not bad.
