USA 89' camry autotrans issue

I have an 89' camry with an automatic trans that shifts hard between 1-2 and sometimes 2-3. I was wondering if anyone has changed the check-balls in the valve body to solve this problem. I did find a service bulletin regarding the plastic check-balls wearing out and harder replacement check-balls as a solution. If anyone has tried this i would like to know if it worked and how hard of a job it is.

It more commonly could happen when tranny is overfilled. Mine was 1/2 qt overfilled by the shop.
The bulletin covers first generation camry, 83-84
88 and up camry has blue balls
This problem can be related to leaking rubber seal of B2, dirty B2 accumulator piston and dirt in the "short" strainer in the valve body

thanks for the advice! it shifts like a dream when its really cold out and not quite warmed up yet so that would make sense that its probably just overfilled.
