2nd Generation 89 toyota 2.0 4cyl no atart?

Driving at 60mph check engine light came on car died. No spark checked rotor button with cap off and it is turning. Jumped the e1 and the te1 terminals on diagnostic plug and its giving me a code of 14-(ignition signal) What does code 14 mean? New ignition coil in dist. 6 months ago. 168,000 miles 4cyl 2.0. Went to junk yard p/u a different Ignitor changed no luck. I am mechanically inclined I'm just stuck now and don't know what to check. If anyone nows what code 14 means and what I should start checking it would be a great help Thank You.

Ignition Signal-No signal from igniter to ECU

IGT, IGF or B+

Igniter or circuit
Ignition coil or circuit
ECU

The igniter sends the IGT and IGF signals to ECU.

Have you checked for ign spark, wiring problems and blown AM2 fuse?

The AutoZone website has a good self help section for checking the ignition

Unplug connector at igniter; check for the +12 v with ignition on at black wire with orange strip
make sure the housing of replacement igniter is attached to the ground before testing.
Also turning ignition on with igniter unplugged causes 14 code.
Finally make sure that terminals at igniter connectors are not pushed back into their cavities too far.
