stereo problem

I have a '87 camry. The stock radio would stop working every once in a while when I was driving. I could sometimes hit the side on the radio housing and it would come back on. Finally I replaced the radio with an aftermarket cd player.

Now I have power to the cd deck, but no sound from the speakers. Any suggestions?

are there any harnesses between deck and speakers?
if so, where?

did you splice your wires or did you use a addapter harness. if it was working before it sounds like you just didn't get your speaker wires hooked up to the new deck.

if the car has some kind of bose system or any kind with a factory amp installed you will have rewire the speakers to bypass that amp and go straight to the deck. I doubt your 87 did but im new to these cars.

I installed a harness adapter that fit for the toyota. There was no sound out of my speakers. Then I tested my speakers with a battery to hear for a popping sound, all four speakers popped. That made me think the problem was the harness, so I spliced directly to the deck; still no sound. Still frustrated!

did you check the settings on the radio like the balance from L to R or F to R.... or check if its on ATT or MUTE...or try to re wire the harness.. it shouldn't be that hard or complicated to trouble shoot it..

good luck
