Gear Selection Screen

hi all;

need some help. that little screen on the dash that shows what gear ure selecting or ure in on my camry doesnt work. well it shows the pattern selection i select, but the rest isnt illuminated. the only time i see some activity is when it's in "park". then i can see the "P" sign just barely flashing when it makes that tone. i dont have a lay out of what each fuse is for in my cabin fuse box, but i've pulled and checked all of the fuses and they're all good. ...

i'm no electrical expert, is this a case of bad wiring ? cuz i kno that there's suppose to be a illuminated "Doors" sign that goes on when the doors are opened and i've only seen it come on sometimes.... think i might need rewiring ???

look up past threads about cleaning the neutral safety switch...that's your problem....

yeah i have thew same problem with the door lights.. mine only turns on when the front two doors open.. but when i open the back doors the light stays off thus my doors can be opened through the back without the alarm going off...

and the gear shifting light also has a problem when i put it on drive.. other than that it works fine.. might say its the bulb...

try smacking the damn thing lolz it worked for mine =]

well i was looking further into the "open door warning light" and it sign in the cluster only has the two front doors. so i'm really not sure if it goes off for the rear doors as well.

i also saw another warning light that reads "Lights", but i figured that's becuz on of my rear brake bulbs are out.

hmm.. then im not sure why it has doordings on the rear doors.... the dome light doesnt come on when i open the rear doors...

mine doesnt come on any at all, only the map lights work. but i'm gonna buy another bulb to see if it makes a difference.

Clean the door switches (that rubber plug).

on the contrary, went fiddling around last night and with the doors open, i pressed one of the a/c control buttons by accident, and lo and behold, the door light came on. and note, it also came on when the rear doors were open.

what exactly did you do??? haha is your ac controls the button type??

indeed "odd"! they are the button type. i was really wiping off that area while i was cleaning the car and i accidentally pressed one of the fan speed buttons. think the car needs an electrical check.

the last time the light was working... yeah it did.
