Is this the only forum you ever been on? If not then feel free to use the search function. If this is the first forum please feel free to use the search function. Have you ever built an engine before?

wow, and I got labeled "harsh"?? LOL, JK W.
The 2vz-fe is a limited platform. You CAN possibly do ANYTHING to it if you are rich and wasteful. Custom labor is the way to go here...custom headers/turbos, custom intake, etc. It's too much to throw at a tired 17-18 year old engine that was designed for a bit of low-mid range torque and comfort. If you want a power surge, hit the PWR button and take OFF the Overdrive and floor it. lol

It's not about being harsh it's just that noobs are too lazy to search. There are currently 2 other threads about his engine on the frickin front page of this forum. 20 bucks says nothing ever comes out of this thread.

search???

wat is a search function???? of course i searched- i'm not an idiot. all the things that i saw were talkin about increasing airflow and beefing up the suspension, not about engine internals. and yes i have built many motors- mostly big block chevy's which have a lot of readily available "performance parts". not hardly as many as the small block chevy but enough to double the stock horsepower output rather quickly. and after machining an 18 year old motor is just as healthy as one that was just manufactured as long as there are no cracks etc. and i did think of custom parts first as that is always an option, just figured that someone here may have a bit of 411 that could be useful.

Everything would have to be custom. I am not aware of anybody that makes off-the-shelf parts for the 2vz. You could conceivably swap motors to a 3vz, 5vz, 1mz, 3mz, etc that have slightly more aftermarket support.

hey thanks w90 for the SENSIBLE bit of insight. got time to fill me in on the 3vz and 5vz? is the 3vz the third gen v6 by chance? don't know alot about toyota motors other than my 2vz and the 22r. and do you have any idea how much the cranks differ between the third gen v6 and the 2vz? would it fit the 2vz block with some machine work? or if anyone knows where i may be able to find some specs other than randomly purchasing some manuals that would be even better!!!! once again thanks for the straight up answer.

I agree, that's why I put JK on the "harsh" comment.

Nothing will come of this thread, because (as you already know) there isn't much of anything for decent hp gains on the 2vz engine. Anything to be done would need one-off custom work.

ok if you have built those engines before then you are familiar with the companies that make engine internals. You are also familiar with the fact that any of those companies can make you a set of internals all you have to do is call them with the specs you'd like. THere you go. rods and pistons taken care of. the stock crank shold be fine unless you plan to do some crazy amount of power. blamo bottem end is taken care of. as far as head work once again you, i assume, already have contacts from the engines you've previously built. Send the head out to a shop that you have worked with. I'm sure they have some one skilled enough to look at it and see where they can improve upon as well as fitting in bigger valves. Cams can be custom made. so on so forth.

What type of budget you working with?

have a decent budget to work with- a custom stroker crank would run between 28 - 3600. i'm not real sure that i reallly want to throw that much money at the 2vz right now. thought maybe someone out there may have really tweaked one in the past and had could let me know how much they were able to squeeze out of this lil forgotten v6. for now i'll probably just port and polish everything on the new long block and work on some of the air flow problems and see about how much i can gain there. but to be able to double the stock horsepower in this lil es 250 would be totally WICKED. but then ya start breakin stuff. . .

Won't really break much if it's tuned properly. A strong 5spd tranny will hold whatever you can throw at it. I would say just do it and see the gains you get you seem to have the know how, time, and budget to get this done. Just do it like nike.
