2nd Generation problem replacing front sway bar bushings

First thanks to the many posters here in the Gen 1 & 2 forums. I've solved a lot of the issues with my '91 Camry, with many more to go.

Here's today's problem though, while changing the front sway bar bushings (sway bar to frame bracket, not LCA's) I have one bolt that is apparently stripped as it turns but doesn't thread out. This is where the sway bar bracket bolts on to the corner frame piece (for lack of a better word). Seems like they were stupid enough to put a nut inside of there that could break loose that you can't get to, instead of just threading the bolt directly into it.

So am I going to have to remove the entire sway bar including the corner frame piece where the sway bar bracket bolts on to the frame, get a new sway bar, corner frame piece and bracket? What a PITA!

Any ideas???

Cut the bolt, grab a new bolt and body bracket at the junkyard. Done.

yup get a new bracket holder thing at the junk yard it's held on by 6 bolts... i've stripped the same one while doing my front sway bar too but it's not that bad may be 10$... u don't need a new sway bar though just that piece

Thanks guys, when I posted I was thinking ahead to the other jobs I'll be doing on this car (LCA's preloaded with bearings & balljoints), but didn't want to be tackling until I get the massive power steering leaks fixed.

The bolt I needed to get off was the one by the oil pan, and with what I had available (angle grinder) couldn't get to it. Did find a replacement mount and bracket at the U-pull-R for $7, then cut the old bracket enough to weaken it and was finally able to get the old mount off only after using the torch on it.

Amazing how much changing those bushings helped with the car's stabliity. Can't wait to do the struts, and later on the LCA's. Thanks again!
