1987 Camry valve train noise!

So I just got finish doing the head gasket on my Camry. I put it all back together and lined up all the timing marks when putting the new timing belt. I turned the engine 720 verify there was no binding and that the timing marks lined back up which they did. I got it all back together and fired it up, then checked the timing with a light. It's where it suppose to be timing wise with it set to base time. However, once it warms up there is a lot of valve train noise. It wasn't like this before the job, so where could I have went wrong?

I didn't put a set screw in the exhaust cam split gear, but I didn't see it move. I don't even know what the purpose of this dual gear setup. Could this be the cause? I am going to tear it back down to verify the timing marks.. so my question is what else should I be looking for?

Before I put it back together I verified cams are in time[2 dots on gears are lined up to each other], crank at TDC, and cam timing pulley set on the mark)

What do you think?

Thanks!

Because the split gear that is on the exhaust cam has a spring inside that needs to be "wound up" so that it puts tension on the intake cam gear. The instructions clearly state to set it before installing it, which I didn't do before because I didn't see it move when I took it off.

I guess it pays off to follow the instructions.
