Problems with my moms 91 Camry

Hello. My mother's 91 Camery station wagon has a few problems that I need to try to fix.

First off is a starting problem. It is not heat related as I have read elsewhere, as the problem is random. When you turn the switch you hear a click, thats all. Car will not start. Sometimes if you hold the key in start for about 10-15 seconds it will start.

Second is the blower motor (for a/c and heat) has a short of some type. If I could find the blower itself, I can fix the wiring. I have been all under the dash and have no clue where it is located.

And lastly is the power windows. None of them roll up or down. I have checked all fuses and rearranged the relays (to see if the problem moves around to something else)

Thanks for any help

starting problem=you need to replace the starter, the sound you are hearing is the solenoid deploying the pinion gear, but it's not turning the engine flywheel, therefore not cranking the engine. there are rebuild kits for this, but at the age of your car i would suggest replacement of starter alltogether.

as far as the windows not operating, make sure the window lock is not applied... if the vehicle has one

The starter was replaced early last year due to the problem it has, and it didn't go away.

As for the windows not working, I think it may be in the driver side door's switches. Would it keep all the windows from working from there own switches if this is where it is at? I dont think it has a lock for the other windows.

For the starting problem, see the sticky thread at the top of this forum called "starter relay" The wiring in the starting circuit is getting a bit old and doesn't send enough power to the solenoid in the starter. As a work around until you add the relay, make sure all accessories are off (lights, brake lights, radio, interior fan, interior lights, etc.) and try starting it. You can also tap the starter to see if that helps.

For the blower motor, does it work at any speed setting? If it only works on "high" or is missing one or two of the lower speeds, you just need to replace the blower motor resistor pack. If no speeds work, you probably need to replace the blower motor. Both are easily accessable in the passenger footwell.

For the power windows - try the simple stuff first. Fuses, etc. If those are working, search for the thread about "power window troubleshooting" written by Doctor J.
