if noise is supected to be from transmission, the only unit that spins when car is not moving but in gear is the torque converter.
If noise is present when car is moving, is related to the drive train [gear sets, differential, or bearings]
If transmission is ECT type look for my thread about "torque converter noise forced lock-up test".
Although it possible that water can get into tanny [which will turn the fluid into the "pink yougurt" color], the front pump is most likely to suffer from that [which will make RPM related whine].If fluid is pink, the clutches may also be damaged by water /ATF mix.
You may need to drop the pan and inspect.
Good luck
