2nd Generation Need Help Guys!

replaced thermostat awhile back, but noticed a small leak yesterday, especially after turning off the car. it drips down by the tensioner. upon further investigation found a small cut in upper radiator hose by clamp, replaced it and still noticed some leaking in the same area. could it be the waterpump? how hard is it to replace? the haynes manual says to remove timing belt then waterpump, i think i can do it, i'm just weary about timing belt issuses. do i need to remove pulleys and cams and stuff? any insight or a write up would help. need all the tips available. thanks for all your help in advance guys. jake

upper radiator hose is located on opposite side of the engine;
the lower radiator hose is the one going to the thermostat.
If the thremostat housing, hose nipple or the thermostat flange are corroded or scratched it will leak after the reassembly.the coolant from pump can leak from the 1/3 diameter check hole near the base of the alternator belt tension bracket.
No cams are needed to be removed , only t-belt itself.
However the complete pump + cover with thermostat housing must be pulled from the engine to replace the pump.

Need Help Guys

thanks for your reply doc, i know its not the thermostat housing or pipe that goes to it. if i decide to replace the waterpump myself, is it pretty hard to get to? after removing timing belt cover i should then be exposed to timing belt? and how do i remove it? once i do that i should have access to the waterpump? and as far as putting "new" timing belt back, what do i need to do? thanks again guys

Just noted you having v-6
Refer to www.camrystuff.com, go to generation 2 engine mechanical.
important !!!!!!
1)mark the belt relative to the cam and crank sprockets.
2)put direction arrow on the OLD belt
3) mark !!each!! cam sprocket relative to the #3 timing cover
4) line up old and new belts side by side straight; transfer marks and arrow from old to new belt[you may use books to keep the belts straight or have helper to hold them.
For water pump USE sealpacking black RTV sealant from Toyota it is very "forgiving" sealant for novice.
Use air, electrical or even cordless 1/2 inch drive impact gun to remove crank bolt; NEVER ever use chain wrench to hold the crank pulley
You may need to get new tensioner for the T-belt.
