what do you think is cheaper and more efficient... rebuilding my AT v6 or swapping out the v6 with a 5 speed celica engine??? cost wise... it will cost me about 1200 to rebuild with labor for my v6... what is build cost for a 4 cly set up including all the necessary parts for it to work???
3s-FE, 3s, ge or the 3s-gte (turbo), in teh same era of coruse
Turbo conversion would be the most expensive, i think Charlie spent at least 4 or 5k doing it. I think the work for the v6 to i4 would be similar to each other, but in comparison of rebuilding the v6 or swapping to an i4, rebuilding would be easier. You're probably better off just buying a new (second hand) i4 camry; less effort and around the same (if not less) price.
I'd personally do the v6 as they were rare here in Aust.

i would stick with my v6 but as gas prices slowly rise... a 4cly would look much better....
but price wise your right.. a rebuild would be more cheaper.... as for swapping a 3sfe engine.. would be nice =] and if it were stick even better... cant find to many stick v6s around my area... let a lone find a damn tranny for my v6 =[
Rebuild the V6 auto... or buy a 4-cyl 5-speed and get rid of your current car.
You would have to do a custom engine mount on the timing belt side to put a 4-cyl in your V6 chassis. There would be other issues along the way too that you won't know until you get too far into the project to stop. Its not worth the slight gain in mileage.

As I'm in an almost identical boat as you, let me just throw my .02 at ya...
If I had $1200, I'd just buy another car. I am sick of working on my PITA 2VZFE and can't quite afford doing the 3SGTE swap (though I did find one for $1500 in Elyria). I could easily get TWO 4cyl Camrys for $1200 and have 1 for a backup.
If your car runs, sell it while it's sellable. Use that cash to spruce them up and be happy!
That's what I'd like to do right now...

I freakin' love my goofy wagon!
i loved the power of my 2vzfe but as you said it was a pita..... mine was running good till a few nights ago i noticed it was rumbling due to low radiator fluid... kept driving and then shit happened.... over heated to the point where the temp gauge was shot past the redline.... if i only stoped, which i couldnt cause i had no AAA card with me and i was on a hill way far from my house, i could have stopped and waited for it to cool down and added som radiator fluid and water.... but like a dumbass i did not and kept going till she stopped on me =[... REALLY BAD DECISION on my part....
just need a few weeks (5) and ill have the money to get her up and running again.. hopefully my block is okay enough for a core exchange.. dont want to pay extra for that...
for now im driving my 91 integra DA... still fun to drive esp cause its stick!!

You have an integra and you chose to drive your v6 Camry over it? (before the camry overheated) Any particular reason why?

hahaha im glad you asked lol
#:
1. my DA only has 2 doors, my camry 4 thus more doors = more bitches lolz
2. i didnt feel like pressing on a clutch that night esp knowing i was gonna drink which i didnt get too =[...
3. my camry is a lot more smoother ride than my "lowered" da which is rough on the freeway
4. last i like my camry more comfortable ride and my sound system is great =]
hmmm i just came across a 93 v6 toyota camry for $750... was curious if it is possible to swap the 3.0 3zvfe in to a 2nd gen camry.. or can i make a hybrid engine of 2vz and 3vz parts...... without major mod to engine mounts and linkage.... and it is a 5 speed mt, another question, will the 5spd tranny fit my 2zvfe???
