91 Camry Manual???

Hi
So I've had my 91 4 cyl for a few weeks now, and want to give it an oil change, since the car is now under new management. Only problem is, it has no owner's manual. Mobil's website suggested I could put 10w40 in there- is that the proper oil for this engine?

The service manual on Camrystuff didn't specify an oil.

edit: I know the thread title is deceptive, I just realized that but alas cannot change it.

oil

Ah, the old 3sfe. We have had a 91 since brand new (now falling apart with rust) but the engine is, of course, still good. I have put 10w-30, 10w-40 and I believe even 5w-30 in the engine. Basically, whatever was lying around would be put in. I will say that I recommend valvoline Maxlife as it seems that the oil leaks less as compared to penzoil. Castrol maybe good as well, have not tried it in awhile.

See if there is an oil recomendation on the oil cap in the engine compartment. If not, call Toyota corporate customer service at 1-800-331-4331 and ask them what the recommended oil weight is for your car. You can also try to pickup an owner's manual on Ebay.
