Replacing Cv Boots

I searched but didnt find what I was looking for exactly.

my car: 1988 Camry 3SFE automatic with BOLT ON axles.

My boot on the driver side (USDM drive on left side) is torn. What is the proper procedure to install a new boot on the axle? Does anyone know of a write up for this?

thanks

www.camrystuff.com has a good procedure.
Use http://www.denlorstools.com/shop/images/OTC-7208A.jpg tool to push the axle out of hub
the axle nut needs 30mm or 1and3/16 socket
Break it loose 1/8 of the turn with car on the ground.
If impact driver is available use it instead; I used battery operated 18 v 1/2 inch drive Milwaukee.
there is no need to remove caliper or brake rotor.
Original boot clamps if carefully removed can be re-used.

I say just replace the complete axle with a rebuild. No worries about getting everything put back together right in the axle, and much less time/labor involved.

If the boot has been torn for any significant amount of time, the joint may already be damaged.

I just get 'em at the local Kragen or PepBoys. They are $60-90 after the core charge is deducted.

I got pretty good at changing V6 axles (bolt-in) on my 3s-gte Camry. I went through 3 in about 10k miles...

280-300hp, drag racing and the car was very low (bad angles on the CVs).

I broke an outer axle (at the hub), broke boots and wore out the CVs themselves.
