CAI piping and Q's

Before i get flamed, i know this has been done to death. I have tried searching, but couldn't find my answer. Have seen it been brought up, but not answered.

1) I'm planning to make one very soon and was wondering, what would be a good size for the tubing? 2.5", 3" or other sizes?
2) So far, i've gathered that i'll need angled tubing (off throttle body and angled towards AFM), straight section and the 180* bend. How much of the straight section should i buy? Would 70cm be enough? Also, how far apart should the gap on the 180* bend piece need to be?

O--O
_ ^ That measurement approx? Excuse my bad drawing using keystrokes lol.

3) What is the diameter of the opening just before the throttlebody? 3"?
4) Where would be the best spot to put the bend (section between TB and AFM)? Right before the TB or around the middle of the section? I have a RHD, so i don't have to worry about the brake booster getting in the way. Does it even matter?

Mine is currently an SRI (like that in the picture) with the stock piping, but want i to make a cold air intake (sucks air from fender well instead of engine bay).

I found out that the TB has an opening of 60mm and the rear of the AFM is 70mm. I see that the pipe doesn't change in diameter and the coupling are used as the reducers. Were they shaped to fit or did you have to stretch it?

Did you have to go to a place that bent it for you? If so, how much did that roughly cost? Was this an exhaust shop or a pipe bending specialist?

I went to a steel shop the other day and they only had 3" (2" was the next size down) straight piping; no bends or reducers. So now i plan on going to a plumbing store to see if they have the pipes i require. I know they have the correct pipes, bends and reducers in HDPE, but not sure about copper.

Edit: Local auto shops are a complete rip-off for parts like these as they know people will pay for it.

you wont gain 5 hp from this, you already have a cold air intake, all you really need to do is get a v6 air cleaner box and adapt your mass air to it, the motor has no problem on the intake side already, the problem is getting the air out
