91 ABS or not?

The master brake cylinder in my 91 V6 auto needs to be replaced, the pedal slowly sinks to the floor when pushed, no loss of fluid anywhere.
Now everyone asks me if it has ABS or not. How do I find out?

Look under the hood. If you have a big metal box with lots of brake lines going in and out of it behind the passenger headlight, you do. You can also turn the key to the 'on' position and not start the car. Check for an "ABS" light in the gauge cluster to come on.

It was a rare option - you probably do not have ABS.

Thanks Charlie,

The only thing there is the cruise control box.
I called NAPA for a rebuilt kit: $46.00. Remanufactured unit: $45.00. I still haven't figured out how that's possible.

Internal leak; a seal has dislodged (most probably in the master cylinder) allowing it to hold a bit of pressure for the initial grab, but then flows past. Which is why you hit the floor.
