91 Camry Radio

Or lack thereof. What year(s) of Camry radios will work in my 91 LE? I'd like to find a CD Player, but How far into the future can I go? will it transfer from a 01 and simply be plug and play?

If it has the 2 part plug style, it should. If there is an anti-theft feature on the radio, you may need the VIN from the car it came from to work it. But as long as you have the 91's brackets, newer radios should fit.

If you're going to replace it, why not replace it with a good aftermarket headunit from Pioneer or something? It's pretty similar in terms of installing. All you will need is an additional wire harness to connect to the toyota plug and you can solder the other half of the Pioneer plug to it. Alternatively, you can get two harnesses Toyota > ISO(you cut this off if you want to solder/might not come with it - all depends on manufacturer) then ISO > Headunit brand. That is the most simplest plug and play option with zero soldering.

I have a 1991 LE also and noticed in the sales brochure I bought for the car there was an upgraded radio/cassette as an option. Do you have the hole underneath yours that is pretty much useless as I do? I've been thinking of checking boneyards oe Ebay to find this better radio (I'm neurotic as heck and want to remain as stock as possible). Have you taken this route?
