My grandparents have this mid '90's Camry sitting around in their yard. Problem is it was low on oil pressure and my cousin took it for a joy ride to about 120 mph. Now the Motor's gone sky high. They'll sell it to me for around $800 and I would just need to get an engine swap (yes, it's that bad). I thought this would be the perfect time to see if any descent performance engines can be swapped in with a manual tranny and possible LSD. I'm thinking if i buy it, i would use it as a mileage beater to and from work. Any thoughts on what would fit in that car without alot of fabrication? I was thinking of a used Celica All Trac (turbo 2.0 litre) or even a v6 camry engine (the old motor is a inline 4 i'm pretty sure). You guys have any suggestions to make a mean sleeper without too much work? Thanks

A 3S-GTE engine (Celica All-Trac/MR2 turbo) is probably the easiest fit. I would say it is easier to do that than a 1MZ-FE/3VZ-FE even. I assume by mid-90's you mean something in the range of 92-96. That is the gen 3 Camry and there are already a few that have done that swap. While you are at it you could get a 5-spd tranny swap as well. That would make your car quite the little sleeper beast!

Wow,

that's Awesome. Do you have any resources that i could go to for the swap? Also, like some reliable, used engine sources e.t.c. ? Would i also need the ECU and axles from a Celica All-Trac? Thanks for your help bro.
