'88 Master Window Switch Swap?

Hi,

Has anyone ever swapped an '87 or '88 master window switch for a newer version?

The 88 and earlier years have rocker-type switches (push to raise / push to lower) while 89 & newer seem to have the "pull-up" type switches (push to lower / pull to raise).

If you've ever bought a new master switch assy, you know they are pricey, and they're getting hard to find in the yards.
The newer assy is much easier to find and is less expensive.
Despite what all the eBay ads say, the 89 & newer will not fit the 88.
At least not my 88 anyway : (

Two issues:
1. The newer assy is a little longer. This will require some cutting on the arm rest to accommodate. Pretty minor stuff.

2. Connector change. I'm in the process of comparing schematics and I plan to replace the old square-ish style connector on the harness in the door with the newer rectangular connector to accommodate the newer switch. Of course, wiring colors have changed, etc. But it appears to be fairly straightforward.

Has anyone else performed this mod?
If so, are there any other issues I should watch for?
