2nd Generation Paint

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you know where i could get some aerosol spray paint in the 8G2 paint code, it's the light pearl blue on the Gen 2s. I found some on some auto touchup site.. but it was 20 bucks a can.. wondering if any of you have a site you recommend?

Thanks

That sounds like the same site I was going to mention. Not much competition out there for spray. And the can for $20 is double the size of the $7 cans at AZ (available in about a dozen total colors for all makes, all years). I bit the bullet and bought for two different cars.

yeah.. i DID notice that it was a bigger size, i guess it's not that big of a deal. i'm going to try to touch up the paint on my car.. and by touch up, i mean repaint it.. anything i do couldn't look worse than it is now. ZERO clearcoat, and fading paint. any recommendations on a type of clearcoat?

You'd probably spend more on the cans than you would buying a 4L or 5L tin of acrylic paint. Don't mix brands, i did it and that's what caused it to literally rip. The paint underneath softened and liquefied from the chemicals in the other brand of paint. That's what happened to one of the guards i painted with cans.

Also, don't try to get every last drop out, sometimes it sprays large blobs, meaning you have to sand them out for it to look good. Even worse with the clearcoat as the little blob protects the small bit of paint and the surrounding has nearly hit the primer from sanding too much. These blobs(and mixing paints) caused me to tear the paint and wouldn't stop. I eventually had to leave it or scrape off all the paint (and waste about $20-$30 in paint and buy it again).

Make sure you have 8G2 paint. I thought my car was 8G2 as well then i checked under the hood and saw that it was 8D8. I believe G2 has more pearl in it than D8.

Some guys paint their cars with undercoating and dont worry about anything again. Other dudes paint with krylon too for the same professional results. Either way it gets the job done.
Lot's of my neighbors use a paintbrush and latex house paint but it don't look so hot with the runs and peeling and whatnot.
