2nd Generation Oil Leak?

Okay so I knew i still had an oil leak somewhere in my car.. but i took the car out for a drive tonight and came back and took a look under the car to see if i could see anything and saw a bunch of oil drops. It looks like they were coming from the axle? or transmission? okay follow me here.. front driver-side tire, following it toward the middle of the car, it connects into a big metal section.. is that the transmission? that's where the oil is dripping off of.. is there something above that leaking onto that section? i look at the top of the engine and nothing it really spurting out.. i'm afraid it might be the head gasket? but those don't fail too often do they? (i just replaced my valve cover gasket)

Oh yeah, and i did a check and had someone look under the car while i was doing it.. i pumped the clutch, turned the wheels all the way to the right and left, cut on the AC, and reved the engine, and nothing spurted out, but there were still a few drops on that section

any help would be GREATLY appreciated

Does the oil look red or is it dark? That will give a slight indication as to whether it's engine oil or power steering/gearbox.

Sounds like it might be leaking from the CV shaft going into the transaxle.

There is a transaxle oil seal there. They do break down periodically and need to be replaced. If the fluid is red as Jimnist suggested, this may be the cause.
