ca smog problems

i have a 87 camry that is all kinds of screwed up.

my results are:
rpm....%co2....%o2....hc(ppm)....co%
886 7.1 10.4 146 .04
2498 12.2 2.7 149 1.07

the tech said that i was lean at idle and rich when up to speed. he also said that i wasnt getting vacuum to my egr but that is an easy enough fix. he said that the egr is more for the nox that anything else. the car had 276k on it when the speedo stopped working so i plan on a new cat. are there any sensors that i should check? and if there is what are the readings that the should be putting out.

The first bet would be the O2 sensors (I think Cali models have two, don't they?). As for what their specs are, check www.camrystuff.com for the manual and the specs for each sensor. Or, go to the library and borrow a Chilton's or a Haynes. They both list the specs, at least the Canadian publications do.

87 has one single wire O2 sensor; the cat is about $300+labor.

elevated O2 at idle suggest misfire; perform O2 sensor check to see if it is working

Yeah, its the later CA models, as Dr. J mentioned. They also have two cats! Oh, and a few other things (EGR temp sensor). All of the Alltracs have two cats also, due to the more difficult smog check requirements (no rolling road = harder to pass smog).
