Timing out? Are the ignition leads damaged? Was there any oil in the spark plug tube?

try adjusting the rubber couplings so it goes roughly where you want it. I got the ChromIntakes one and had to do that.

as for the knocking? i would second the motion of checking your timing.

just loosen the coupler rings (the things that tighten down the rubber couplings to the tube... i forget the official name) and bend the tube..just a little bit. in the direction you want it.. do this for every coupling and it'll be in the right direction

even though the directions say "don't adjust the rubber couplings unless you need to" .. i adjusted them.. because mine wouldn't fit because my battery.

Any chance the intake is hitting something? Check all the motor mounts too.

What kind of knocking is the sound? Is it internal or external? Have you checked your oil level?
