Dash warning for rear lights on. Wierd???

UPDATE: FIXED!.......FIXED! CURE!{{Checked out each bulb one at a time; found one that wasn't making good ground evidenced by the discolored metal base.
It was the problem bulb...but it lit up fine.
The new bulb was the cure.}}

The dash warning light indicator for the rear taillights come on when stepping on brake pedal.... Only while headlight switch is on.
All the rear tail lights work & i have checked the connection of every bulb.

And I checked out the battery and alternator...both good.

Is there some sort of relay causing this?

In the trunk, behind the left-hand carpeted trim, there is a little plastic yellow box...this is the sensor for burnt lights. When they get wet they can malfunction, but age may have caused yours to conk out.

Hmm mine has come on a couple times in the past week but shutting the car off and on eliminates the light. hasn't happened in the past 2 or 3 days though.

Have a spare dual filament and a single filament bulb handy.
One at a time, remove each bulb and carefully inspect filaments.
Look to see if one filament has detached and is making contact with other filament.
Shake each bulb lightly to see if a filament is loose or broken.

Everyone, Thanks for all the advice.

The yellow box isn't getting wet, but I still think it is the problem. I opened it up and didn't see anything smoked....but.....(My daughters 90 Supra has the same thing happen time to time and I think it is the box.)

I think I'll check all my light bulbs again and test every socket with a new good bulb.

If it continues with no obvious light problem; I may just pull the annoying warning light in the dash.....problem solved
Whatever I find; I'll report back the fix.

A good friend of mine has a 1989 Supra, and much like your daughter's car his burnt light warning kept coming on...it was the yellow sensor box. He swapped it with one (as I recall) from a 2nd gen Camry and all was well...
