Passenger side cv axle

Help! Ok, 1990 camry 4 cylinder with the non bolt on kind of cv axle..

I have long since removed the bad cv axle on the passenger side.. My only problem now is to get the new cv axle installed while keeping the retaining C clip inside the hole that the bearing goes through.

The C-Clip seems to go INSIDE the hole that holds the bearing in place. Yet you somehow need to get the bearing on the axle through that hole with the C-clip in place.

However I can't get the bearing on the axle to even get started going through the C-clip... The c clip is too constricted for it to get started...

How on earth do you get this thing to go in?!? I've been thinking about it all day and i can't figure it out.. Banging on the cx axle to push it past doesn't work.. I cant seem to get in there and pry the C-clip apart to slip the bearing in...

This is the last step to getting this car running and I just cannot figure it out any help would be greatly appreciated.

When installing the axle, the c-clip should be around the axle behind the bearing (between the bearing and the inner CV) sitting loose. Its been a while since I have done those axles, but I think you can even put the c-clip around the axle after it is in the car. The axle slides into the trans and the bearing into the bracket, then the c-clip is put into the bearing bracket.

I'm having trouble picturing where you are stuck...

Weird.. Maybe I am picturing this wrong...

It seems to me that, based on the width of the bearing, that the c-clip has to go around the bearing itself... Am I misunderstanding? Should the bearing go far enough into the bearing retainer to be able to slide the c-clip over it?

If thats the case then might advanced be selling me the wrong axle? Because I really cannot get the bearing in far enough to just slide the c-clip over it... Its far too wide.

Does that make sense?

You see I thought, because of the bearing's size, that you somehow had to put the c-clip in BEFORE you put the axle in because otherwise it would be impossible to get it in there otherwise... I'm thinking that either A) I have the wrong axle or B) I have to absolutely slam the bearing into the hole..\

I wish i had kept the original axle as a reference... Might anyone know where to get a picture of the proper axle?

If the c-clip is in place before you put in the axle, there is no way the axle can go in there.

Slide the axle into place with the c-clip completely removed. After that's done, you should be able to put the c-clip in place.
