Canada New (Old) Camry Owner 1990 LE V6 25th Anniversary Ed.

Hey everyone,

My name is Dilan and I just recently bought a 1990 Camry LE V6 25th Anniversary Edition.
It is a two tone grey, grey interior, 5spd manual, with pl, pw, and moonroof
around 224k km I've already put well over 1000-2000 already,

I used to have a Alpine White 2007 Camry SE but had to sell it.

Got a good deal on this car for a winter beater but it runs properrr so might put a little TLC in

So far I just put in an Alpine CDE-102 Deck and will probably change out the speakers since I need my tunes :P Stock tape deck wasn't quite cutting it lol. I also put a Shift knob and the steering wheel needed a cover. Need to run power cabling for my amp too.

Only issues I have at the moment are
-Passenger side rear window doesn't go down
-Driver side power lock button doesn't work
-E-brake cable needs to be tightened
-for some reason in the rain the driver side rear drum brake is seizing or catching so I hear a rumbling but it goes away after a while.
-Will probably need to source CV shafts down the line cause the boots are worn.
-Fenders have a bit of rust so need to patch that up or find some fenders(fronts) from another camry.

Congrats on the buy man and welcome to the Gen 2 club. I think you'll be very happy with the Gen 2. We have a Gen 6 in the family but I prefer my Gen 2 over it.

5spd v6? Did someone do the conversion previously? I thought the gen 2 v6's were fully imported from Japan and only came with slushboxes?

Lol, the sedan had a choice of manual or automatic. The wagon came with automatic only.

Clarification in regards to body style, engine, & tranny:

Automatic sedan and wagon (both I4 & V6) - Most common.
I4 sedan w/ 5sp - Available, but not always easy to find.
V6 sedan w/ 5sp - Available, but rare (ES250 5sp is hardest to find)
I4 All-Trac w/ 5sp - As available (and hard to find) today as a V6 5Sp Sedan
I4 5sp Wagon - Exists, but can be difficult to find today.
V6 Wagon - Automatic (to my knowledge).

Charlie, TBayBoy, Fredk, Atobe, or 88LE may know better regarding V6 wagon.
I do not recall running into a V6 5pd wagon.

Welcome to the Gen2 Club, DiLan.

Hey Dilan, welcome to the forum...and excellent choice of wheels, my friend. My 25th Anniversary Edition Camry (also a 5-speed) is just about to hit 395,000km on the original engine and transmission, so you've got a LOT of life left in yours. When I bought mine in 2003, it had the same mileage yours does now--I'm f%$^ng jealous.

As for the V6 wagons, they were definitely not offered in 5-speed. I researched it for two years, hoping to find such a beast--but no. Only the Camry and Lexus sedans got the option...and I've always wondered why more people didn't choose the trusty ol' manual? I would guess they were much more popular in Europe--as we North Americans tend to be slushbox lovers.

Glad to have you on board, Dilan. Keep us posted on your progress. And tell me if you find a secret source of parts in TO...I'm from there, and visit my family reguarly. Standard Auto Wreckers hasn't had much of anything lately.
