Going to look at 1991 Camry DX tomorrow
Hello everybody,
First time posting on this forum. Little bit about myself. I am in Pittsburgh, PA. Owned Toyota once in my lifetime (2001 Sienna, bought it new) and sold in 2006 because children grew up and we didn't need it any more. Had 60K miles and zero problems, so I have respect for Toyota.
I never had Japanese car from that period, but heared that that quality was legendary. I actually like aesthetics of 70's and 80's, much more than bloated forms of modern cars. In fact, my all time favorite car is 1981 VW Golf diesel that I left behind on the other side of Atlantic, when we moved in this country.
OK, now to the question! So I found this 1991 Camry DX, automatic for sale. One owner, deceased. 98K miles. I wanted 4 cyl one, because my 4.0 Cherokee is just draining my budget... The seller (the owner's daughter) told me the car was running fine, but developed a problem with fuel delivery; such that the engine will only run with starting fuel. She thinks might be filter or pump. I already went through posts to get an idea how diagnose faulty pump. I wonder what else to look. Is there anything specific for that year that might be a problem. My mech. skills are average (have done steering linkages, shocks etc.)
