New here.... Fan help on 90 camry

Hey fellas,

Longtime member of other forums but recently purchased a 90 camry as my commuter for my hour long drive each way. Its been a great car so far but recently (last 6 weeks), the fan had been intermittent. On AC and heat, the fan would work sometimes, then not others. It also would speed up when I would slow down, and vice versa.

Now that winters here I need to get on this cause this morning we had frost and I had no heater.

I searched and found some sort of "resistor" problem but don't know if this is the problem and if they're is any more help as to where exactly I can replace it, or if its something else. Hopefully someone has ran across this exact same problem!!

Not likely, I know. But if there is any help it would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks!!

When the blower motor resistor goes bad you will usually lose fan speeds 1, sometimes 1 & 2 and sometimes 1,2 & 3, but the fan usually works on the highest speed. Is that what is happening? If not, I would suspect the fan motor itself or the wiring to the fan. You can try removing the electrical connector at the resistor itself and at the fan itself, checking for corrosion and then reconnecting them a few times to try and create a cleaner connection.

Thank you.

I see your name on all these fan motor searches. And will be trying this as well as the fuses, testing the blower, and all the like.

My first searches were clearly not defined enough.

It sounds like the blower motor itself might be going. It not hard to change, but I'm not sure of the price (I got one at a junkyard that worked fine a few years back).

under the glove box... if you put your head where the passenger feet area and look up.. you'll see a connector with 4 wires and 1 screw .. undo the screw that's the resistor pack for the blower motor
