1990 V6, rough start

Hi, i own a 1990 camry v6 that i bought last month (i'm new to toyotas and this forum). Picked it up for $800 in decent shape and it runs pretty well. It does have a few things im wondering about. It starts up just fine from a cold start (well, at least if its been off for an hour or so) or if its been off for a few minutes (like when i get gas). If its only been off for say 10 minutes to an hour (like if im eating lunch) i have a rough start. It will crank and go to about 400 rpm and just die. To start it i got to pump the gas, and after 5 seconds of struggling it will get up to a normal rpm and will run just fine afterwards. Not sure what it is really, and my schedule being what it is i am not affected by this every day, but i would like to know whats going on. Otherwise i am very happy with this car and think i made the right choice moving to toyota (my last car was a 1993 caddy deville that got 11mpg and the tranny died).

There have been a lot of posts on similar problems here recently - mostly on the 4 cylinder model though.

It sounds like the cold start injector time switch is out of spec. Its not a serious problem, but does cause starting issues like you describe. If you can pick one up at the junkyard for cheap, its worth checking out.
