No vacuum at EGR. Need diagnosis help Please.

Need diagnosis help Please. The check engine light is on and the generic codes point to the EGR system. There is very little vacuum to the EGR valve (which I rebuilt and the diaphragm operates easily when I suck on the top connection point (oops!). Does this point the Vacuum control valve? Any other ideas? Thanks, Pauly F.

Just in case check the vacuum modulator for busted diaphragm.
