2nd Generation HELP!!!! charging issue

OK, so i have an extremely random issue that happened to me last night.

while driving home with the lights on, i found that they became steadily dimmer. this was combined with two warning lights coming on in the dash, the "charge" light, and the "lights" light. now, so far as i can see, the battery has stopped charging. this, to me, could only be caused, by a: a faulty battery, b: faulty charging circuit, or c: a faulty alternator.............

i have eliminated the battery as the cause, it's only 7 months old, and has tested out fine. if it's the alternator, i'll just swap it out and get a reco'd one, but how do i test the circuit? this is where i need help!
