Japan Turbo 1989 Camry

I am currently in the process of turboing my '89 camry. I'm real bored with the camry stock and since i have turboed tons of cars this seems like a fun project for some strange reason. The 3s motor is obviously a kick ass motor and it being the same as the MR2 i got the manifold and the CT-26 turbo off one. I am currently out of work so it will take a while to buy the sandwich plate feed and drain lines, intercooler and blow off valve. This car is a keeper, I will add the roof rack and thicker rims after my taxes

MORE pictures will be added as i get more parts and install them!!!!

I am sure to finish this.....I hope lol. I know i wont be boosting more then 7 pound so i will regulate the internal wastegate i dont want to boost anymore then that. It looks like a pretty simple set up, and the car will look as sleeper as possible, i hope, no fancy exhaust bright colors or 20's, not my style lol

For the feed/drain line, use the stock CT-26 stuff. You will need to weld/braze on an AN fitting for the feed line (then T off the pressure sender) and weld a bung on the oil pan or use an Celica Alltrac (ST185) pan for a direct fit.

Use the stock wastegate pressure on the turbo, which will be 7-9psi, get an intercooler on there, add an FMU for more fuel under boost and you should be good to go. Oh, and consider getting a new fuel pump (Walbro, etc.) to be safe.

I didnt get any of the lines from the turbo, i have the flanges, but maybe if i can find the lines at a junk yard or ebay im sure it will be cheaper. I never thought about the fuel pump thanks for reminding me . The intercooler will be from an Mr2 figuring out the placement is pretty brain puzzling, i dont want to run to many pipes as for the mr2 side mount, its a pretty small intercooler i hope has clearance above the area where the compressor connects to the stock airfilter. If the internal wastegate gives me that much boost im sure the motor can handle it.

As for the down pipe, Im looking on ebay and tyring to get some measurement, there is enough space for the down pipe for the mr2, all trac celica and camry. They only thing that looks if-e is the dipstick, looks like a bother. If it wont fit i will just get the down pipe flange and custom make the whole exhaust myself.

..you could substitute a water/meth injection for a IC.

Run that intercooler in front of the radiator... you'll have trouble getting any airflow in the engine bay (even with a hood scoop or whatever).

Easiest would be to delete the A/C and run the pipes in and out next to the radiator.

I looked into the the water/methanol injection, its not as brain puzzling, i could route the compressor outlet straight to the intake manifold, and add the needle injection to the air inlet to spray. But i will still need the intercooler for the reason being it doesnt look like constant cooling Thanks for making me read up on water/methanol which i never knew what it was.

I measured the space in front of the radiator, if I reroute the horns and remove the bracket holding them, taking off the grill would give me more clearance and more airlflow, the metal bumber issue i can solve, drilling for the piping is what i am looking at now. THANKS!!!

i will try to drop the oil pan for its drain fitting sometime this week if the "storm" goes away any time soon.

you only need the cooling at full throttle and that is where the water/meth injection will be activated..it cools better than a IC...saves weight..adds fuel with the meth...easier to mount than a IC..never gets heat soaked like a IC ..keep reading up,i bet you change your mind...I USE a system on my turbo 88 200sx.
