Broken Timing Belt on 84 2.0 Camry

I have a 1984 2.0 Toyota Camry. My question is, when the timing belt breaks does it damage the valves? Is this a interference or spinfree motor? Signed New to Toyotas.

change your crank shaft seal and your camshaft seal. Easy to do and gives you a lot of insurance for the future. Check your tensioner pulley for a defective bearing that you can change at the same time if necessary and of course change your water pump.

Post up if you run into problems
