Frozen Door Locks/latches

Over the past three years i have had a reoccurring problem with my door locks and latches freezing in the winter. This morning i had to crawl through the passenger door to get to the driver seat. This is not fun especially since i park on the street for school. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to free them up and keep them that way? I don't have access to a garage so i can't just park it and let it warm up.

Try a graphite based lubricant in the keyhole... work it in by turning the key, etc hopefully that helps.

I also have been having this problem. The driver front door will not always fulling lock with the electric locks. The driver back door will get froze locked, I have to roll the window down and pull it up with a pliers.

Most of the time this is the worst right after I wash it, or if the weather is a little warmer were there is a lot of melting, then gets cold and freezes.

I also thought the same thing, some kind of lubricant. Graphite is good through the key hole. I think in my situation I will have to pull the door panels and get something on the parts that are freezing. Something that will not gum up too much when cold, but will displace water/moisture, so it doesn't collect and freeze. I'm sure it doesn't take much.

Graphite in the cylinders does make a huge difference, but in my case it does not fix my problem in extreme cases.

I always thought lock deicer was a bad idea, to only use it when you have to. I thought it gummed up the lock mechanism over time with use.

If it's mechanical use a dry graphite or spray TriFlow in the key hole

It its freezing moister use a deicer made for door locks, comes in a small container size, would fit nicely in your backpack

Study hard
